Obligatory Prayers In Islam

Every Muslim is required to perform five times of prayer each day. Islam has five daily compulsory prayers: Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha and some others are non obligatory prayers in Islam. Daily salah is very important because it establishes a connection between a person and the universe’s creator. For Muslims, praying is a gift from Allah Almighty rather than a requirement. Prayer serves as a reminder that everything comes from Allah (SWT) and that everything will eventually return to Him. The following article will introduce you to obligatory prayers in Islam and their benefits.

5 obligatory prayers In Islam

1. Fajr Prayer

Fajr is the first prayer of the day. The time for this prayer begins at the break of dawn and lasts until the rising of the sun. It is a happy time, and there is no need to worry about waking up early because, with regular spiritual practice, the body and mind are infused with life energy for the remaining day.

Benefits:

  • If you begin each day with prayer, Allah Almighty will watch over you all day.
  • The Fajr prayer ensures that we start the day with light and life. Early morning sets the tone and energy for the entire day, and by starting the day off right.
  • The prayer will keep you out of hell.
  • Allah Almighty sends angels to observe Muslims performing the Fajr prayer.

2. Zuhr Prayer

The second prayer that Muslims offer each day is called Zuhr (Dhuhr), and it begins when the sun begins to set in the western horizon.

Benefits:

  • The Zuhr prayer is when Muslims believe the gates of heaven are opened. Therefore, it is crucial to perform good deeds now, with prayer being the most crucial action.
  • On the Day of Judgment, Allah Almighty will protect those who perform the Zuhr prayer from the fires of Hell.

3. Asr Prayer

Muslims perform the Asr prayer, the third required prayer, after the Zuhr prayer. It begins in the late afternoon. According to hadith, offering the Asr prayer is extremely important. According to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW), “He who offers Salat (prayer) before the sun rises and before the sun sets will not go to Hell”. (Muslim)

Benefits:

  • Everyone who performs the Fajr and Asr prayers is granted entry into Jannah, which is one of Islam’s greatest blessings.
  • Success in this life and the hereafter will be ensured by those who offer the Asr prayer.

4. Maghrib Prayer

The fourth required prayer, known as maghrib, begins when the sun sets. If someone purposely misses the Maghrib Salah, Allah Almighty is supposed to punish them.

Benefits:

  • All of Allah Almighty’s blessings and rewards are bestowed upon those who perform the Maghrib prayer.
  • All of your wishes and duas will be granted by Allah (SWT).
  • Allah Ta’ala will grant you wealth and a happy family life.

5. Isha Prayer

Isha prayer is the day’s final ablution. It begins at the conclusion of the Maghrib prayer and lasts until midnight. Isha’s prayer is challenging to perform, so the Almighty Allah also rewards it greatly. “Whoever offers Isha salah in jama’ah, it is as though he spent half the night in worship”, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said. And whoever performs the Fajr prayer in the mosque is considered to have spent the entire night in worship. (Muslim)

Benefits:

  • As we end our day on a spiritual note, observing Isha ensures a restful night’s sleep by keeping our minds clear of guilt, stress, and material concerns.
  • Try to make more duas after the Isha prayer; Allah is open to them and will grant you His blessings.

Absence from performing obligatory prayers in Islam on purpose is sinful. But if you forget to pray or there are other unavoidable circumstances, you can still offer the missed prayer as soon as you can. We hope that the article has helped you understand what is obligatory prayer in Islam.
